Spring Is In The Air

Several days ago while returning from the mailbox I stopped in my tracks surprised to notice that the birch tree in my front yard was already beginning to leaf out. Yesterday, I spent several minutes watching a bird eagerly gathering material from my garden for nest making. Today, somewhere between mid-morning and noon I found myself photographing late-winter or early-spring flowers in my backyard.

Now as I review the images I created earlier today and begin this writing a much needed moderate rain has started to fall. The rainy season in Southern California influenced this year by the unpredictability of the El Nino effect - you just never know how it's going to play out.

Glad I got out there when I did. I am pleased with these early season flower pictures. My goal was to create intimate images that had a sense of mystery with the flower itself or with the garden as a whole. I really like the lighting and happy colors on display.

Here's to new beginnings and the mysteries of the unknown!
