AMPLIFIED QUIETNESS
Another mild and dry winter in southern California is quickly coming to an end. But, today a weak cold front was slowly moving in and rain was predicted to arrive in the late morning. Those that know me well, know how much I love the rain. There is just something special about a rainy day that I can't quite put my finger on. The rain just seems to lift my spirits.
So, I decided to make a quick run up to my favorite duck pond and see if I could make some new photographs before the weather arrived.
I was surprised by how few people were there. Actually, I was the only person in the vicinity and more importantly the entire upper lake was completely void of my duck friends too.
I took advantage of the additional elbowroom and amplified quietness and made a slow zigzag pass through the wonderful oak and sycamore forest found here. On my way back to where I had parked I reconnected with the lake. Still no ducks.
This is the only other photograph I made on this day. I thought it would be a good depiction of one of the last winter days prior to the arrival of spring in southern California.
