Sunup, Yosemite Valley

“There is pleasure in the pathless woods.”  -Lord Byron

I was up and out early doing some off trail wandering in Yosemite Valley on a crisp November morning after moderate overnight snowfall.  I was cutting tracks through ankle to mid-calf deep fluffy virgin snow with no real destination in mind.  No agenda.  No schedule.  No deadline.  No worries.  Just how I like it.

I knew it would not be long before the sun rose above this ridge.  Judging by the background glow, I had a good idea of where the sun would crest, so I found a suitable vantage point, set up my tripod and framed up this shot.  Now all I had to do was enjoy my surroundings, drink hot black coffee, and wait.
